As of Wednesday police were still searching for the suspect, described as a white male wearing a hoodie pulled over his head, a black jacket, and white bandana over his face. He is believed to be 5′ 10″ to 6 feet tall.

The first robbery occurred just after 6 a.m. at the BP station in Dundee, where the suspect demanded cash but the station clerk drew a gun, causing the suspect to flee.

At 6:30 a.m., the suspect entered the Milan BP station where he left with an undetermined amount of money, according to Milan police chief Donald Tillery.

The third incident occurred in Pittsfield Township at the Circle K station on W. Michigan Ave. just prior to 7 a.m.. In this incident, the suspect demanded money from the cashier and implied he had a weapon, although he didn’t produce one. The clerk gave the suspect money; he then fled in a late model Ford Focus believed to be black in color.

News reports do not indicate the suspect actually produced a weapon in any of the robberies, however he did insinuate he had a weapon in the third incident.

The suspect was captured on surveillance video in one of the robberies, and police were working to enhance the video in an effort to capture the suspect.

While it is not known currently if the suspect actually had a weapon, he will likely face serious consequences if arrested. The crime of unarmed robbery may leave those found guilty facing up to 15 years in prison. However, armed robbery is far more serious, and may leave those convicted facing a life prison term.

Armed robbery is often charged even if the perpetrator did not actually have a weapon, but insinuated the presence of a weapon during the commission of the crime. For example, a person could point a finger in the pocket of a coat or jacket to make it look like a gun in order to intimidate or instill fear in the victim. Even a toy gun or any other article could leave a suspect facing charges of armed robbery.

The crime of armed robbery is extremely serious. If you have been arrested or are under investigation, it is critical to your future and freedom to work with a highly skilled Michigan criminal defense attorney.
